1 August 2011 - Mushrooms in the border behind the shop at South Road. As well as the ones that aren't Imperial Caps these pebble-like mushrooms have started coming up this year. I found a couple last year, but this year there are loads of them. They might be immature versions of the ones that aren't Imperial Caps
Firm, tight body; no externally-visible gills; sometimes cracked like a popcorn kernal; gills solid black; cap woody brown, look like pebbles, easy to miss; no stem; smell mushroomy; firm hollow sound upon tapping; found in very dry soil, land recently had trees cut down and chipped with chippings piled nearby, one laylandii still present keeping soil very dry.
